Website Showing “Not Secure” in the Browser

Created by Ben Tiffin, Modified on Thu, 12 Feb at 5:05 PM by Ben Tiffin

What This Means

If your browser shows “Not Secure”, it means your website does not currently have a valid SSL security certificate.

This can happen if:

  • An SSL certificate has expired

  • The SSL was never installed

  • The website was recently migrated

  • The domain name was changed

This does not automatically mean your website is unsafe, but visitors may feel concerned when they see this message.

What You Can Check

  • Has the website or domain been moved recently?

  • Has the domain name changed?

  • Are you seeing this message on all pages?

What To Do Next

SSL issues require server-side configuration.
